A software company that would rather be useful than large
DigiCore Technologies (Pty) Ltd is a South African software engineering practice. We build custom business systems, mobile applications and the architecture underneath them — for companies that need software to work, not software to impress an investor.
Why we work the way we do
Almost every business we meet has a story about a software project that went badly. The details vary but the shape rarely does: a price agreed before anyone understood the scope, a build that drifted, a developer who became the only person who understood the system, and eventually a decision to start again with someone else.
Very little of that is caused by bad engineering. It is caused by the commercial structure around the engineering — open-ended billing that rewards slowness, scopes vague enough to argue about, and codebases that quietly become the supplier's leverage rather than the client's asset.
So we built the company around removing those incentives. Discovery is a paid, standalone piece of work that produces a specification you own, which means you can take it elsewhere and get comparable quotes. Pricing is fixed against that specification. Code and infrastructure definitions are transferred on completion. Support is available, but nothing is designed so you need it.
Remote-first, and not apologetic about it
We do not keep an office in Sandton or the Waterfront, and our rates reflect that. Software work is thinking, writing, reviewing and testing — none of which improve because everyone is in the same building. What genuinely benefits from being in the room is early discovery, watching how your team actually works, and that is exactly where we travel to you.
The practical result is that a fabrication business in Vereeniging and a financial services firm in Sandton get the same engineers and the same process, and neither is subsidising a lease.
What we are not
We are not a body shop renting out developers by the hour, and we are not a digital agency that also does websites between brand campaigns. We are also not the right choice if you want someone to start coding on Monday without a specification. Projects run that way have a well-documented failure rate, and we would rather lose the work than be the next chapter in your software story.
Let’s scope your project properly
Tell us what you are trying to build or fix. You will get a straight assessment of what it involves, what it should cost, and whether custom software is even the right answer.
